We know about the issue with data not being correctly pulled from Outlook Contacts. We plan to address this in an upcoming version, we want to really retool the way we deal with this stuff. It's worth taking the time to do it right.

Inappropriate? We may have pulled this phone number from an actual email incorrectly, rather than from your address book. You can "edit profile" under the profile picture to correct the phone number.
Also, did you know you can easily close that blue box, "Get the Most from Xobni" at the bottom of your Xobni by click on the "x" at the left of the blue bar? -
Inappropriate?Xobni currently only pulls the Outlook Contact mobile number if no mobile number is found in the analysis of your indexed emails. Otherwise, Xobni populates the profile with the phone numbers in the indexed emails that it associates with the email addresses in that profile.
We are aware that pulling additional information from Outlook Contacts is a popular feature request and will certainly bear it in mind when enhancing this feature. -
We should note that it is easy to see if Xobni extracted a phone number by simply hovering your mouse over the number. It will show you a tool tip that highlights where that number was found. -
You're right, but the correct information is in outlook contacts. Xobni get the phone in the others person signature. Is possible to configure xobni to get contact information from outlook contacts, instead of email information ? -
The value of pulling the number from the indexed email is that it _theoretically_ provides the most up-to-date contact info. (And, I know a number of my old outlook contacts are probably out of date). But, generally speaking, my Outlook contacts are correct and I prefer to see that information.
Maybe the compromise is that Xobni should alert users when the phone number extracted from the index differs from the number found in the outlook contact? -
Inappropriate?Outlook should be the main source for the person's contact information, considering the fact that the user took the time to create it. Xobni needs to have a data priority list in order to be effective, if not it is a waist of time to try and update Xobni and your outlook contact as well
-
Inappropriate?Actually, many, if not most users would disagree with you. Most people do a bad job of maintaining their addressbook. Xobni represents an alternate addressbook that is very often more accurate as it automatically updates off signatures on a daily basis. There are times when it makes a mistake, but to say that the Address Book is always right is very contrary to our user research.
Perhaps for you this is not the case, but it certainly doesn't make it a universal truth.
I can see how a discrepancy could be confusing and annoying at times. We will take a look at this issue in an upcoming release. Perhaps we can improve what is there...but there are a ton of edge cases that make "Synching" a very difficult animal. -
Maybe you are right for some, but it would be nice to have the option to choose a priority list for the fields you show of what overwrites what. I have a windows mobile phone connected to an exchange server. I do a lot of sales and this is my universal address book. I like to use Xobni as a shortcut on my screen so I don't have to open the outlook contact information for the person that I am receiving the email from .It is cumbersome to have the wrong information in the Xobni screen, and not to be able to setup a rules based system. You guys are doing great, so keep up the good work, just a couple of suggestions from a sales point of view. Thanks, TK. -
Jeff, but I have to disagree completely with your assertion. If the data is in the address book, then it needs to be at least considered. In today's environment of synching with smartphones, why would you completely discount populated data.
Why do I want to edit the profile if the data is already in Outlook? Who thought that made sense? -
Jeff, I also have to completely disagree. If under all circumstances Xobni pulls mobile phone data from emails first, followed by Outlook contacts, then you have just created a universal truth that the user's data (i.e. my data) is less accurate than the email they receive. No matter which you consider to be more accurate, the fact is, you won't be able to create a valid universal truth in this manner because your customers are not all going to have the same methods and behaviors. To implement this well, you will need to have some user-definable preferences that allow the user to adjust the order of priority Xobni uses for scraping data. I would absolutely love utilizing the data that Xobni displays for me about my contacts... the problem is, it is incorrect. If I could modify my preferences such that Xobni scrapes the data from Outlook Contacts first, followed by email secondly, then it would work perfectly for me. If Xobni is going to create a plug in for a beast as big as Outlook, you will have to acknowledge the fact that many of the "universal truths" that you create are going to have exceptions. Accounting for these will ensure that your product is indispensible and not just one with "potential". -
Inappropriate? It is a fair point. We will look into it. In product design, there is always this trade off between "just works" and "configurable". It can be difficult at times to strike the right balance. Windows apps seem to error on really, really long "Options" menus. We haven't done a great job of keeping ours small, really, either.
It is due for an overhaul! And we will take a look at the "source of truth" question you raise here. But I assure you syncing is a 1000 headed hydra.

Thanks all for help and I have 2 questions:
- I have to do something for suggest this configuration in next version ?
- Can you remove the picture that I uplodaded ? I'm asking this because I realize that the picture have a client phone, and the client doesn't authorize me to post this information on internet. -
Inappropriate?I agree with the people that say there should be a setting so that the Outlook contact info shows up in the first frame not the most recent used phone number. i have lots of clients that do not put their phone number in their email signature. so then outlook pulls a hotel or sister's house phone from an old old em. that first frame is really useless to me. most people i now use outlook contacts as their phone book today. this is a heck of a good product but a huge miss w not having the contact info option. i know i am not the norm but i use salesforce and sync that with outlook and then outlook to the blackberry.
the folks at xobni need to understand that more and more people are using outlook contacts as than people sync w smart phones. and smart phone sales are on fire!
I’m frustrated after reading the posts here from xobni

Inappropriate?Keep in mind as this is retooled that the skype name has a standard field location in outlook. It is kept in the "Radio Phone" field. It would be nice if Xobni used the same field. No one wants to edit the Xobni profile when there are places to grab the data from the outlook contact form.

The issue at hand is the cloud (facebook, linked in, skype, etc) versus your local information in your outlook file. For all contacts that Xobni pulls in, it would be great to have a synchronization tool to combine both worlds. Sometimes the cloud is more updated, or sometimes your local outlook information is more updated. The synchronization tool would give the user the power to choose which source is correct, then it could update Xobni and outlook so the best data is shown in each program. also a list of the mapped fields from Xobni to outlook would help, to ensure the data gets to the right field. -
Inappropriate? One more vote for having the ability to take information from the Outlook contact fields.
In my business, my contact list, and my ability to tap into the information in the various Outlook contact fields, is *critical*. With over 6,500 names in my contact list, I spend a lot of time of time administering my Outlook contact list for that vary reason. Xobni is underperforming in this area, in my opinion.
For example, today I was looking for all of my contacts at the Embassy of Brazil. Xobni only found the ones with email address and then only if I spelled the word Brasil. Yes, I could have accomplished the same thing by searching my Outlook contact list or by organizing my contact list by company name. But, isn't Xobni supposed to be a replacement for the *very* slow Outlook search engine?
I need the option to select what information Xobni takes from Outlook.
Please don't let Xobni become a Google style search engine where it feels as though 75% of the results contain useless information based on what the masses want, and what companies want to sell me, not what I want.
Then again, is Xobni meant to be a business tool or a personal social media tool? -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem and it's really annoying. I used the sidebar to find contact info with the person(s) I am working with. The office number in most cases is correct, but not every contact has a cell number, and it populates this by "reading" the email for phone-like-numbers that are part of UNIX event log messages in those emails..!
Why can't XOBNI in the configuration setup give you the option JUST to read the MS OUtlook Contact information and NOT scan the emails.
I’m frustrated
