Outlook 2007 Start very slow after install xobni

After installed Xobni with Outlook 2007 SP2 running on XP SP3 (2.33GHz Core2 Duo, 4GB RAM), outlook take ~5 min (sometimes even longer) to start. Outlook is set to connect to Corporate Exchange Server (Cache Mode Enabled). Tried uncheck Mailbox from Instant Search. Any idea... Other than that, Xobni seems to be working fine... (but god it is `SLOW') BTW, restarting xobniservice sometimes help...

I did a couple of things and my load time is much improved.
    1) I seperated my archive PST into multiple PST's based on year.
This way now, I don't have one large archive PST spanning multiple years with a file size over 1GB. I have two PST's with about 700MB and 900MB in size respectively
    2) I upgraded to Xobni Plus, so no more advertisements.

I'm not sure which solve the slow load times but I'm suspecting the first item helped it the most by splitting up the archive pst.

Yes, I had the emails (all 35000+) from a yahoo group in a subfolder in my PST. That was from a long ways back and since I can read'em online in my GMail I set up a rule NOT to download from GMail, then deleted them from the PST...

HOWEVER...the PST should be compacted right afterwards as the so called deletion is actually a TAGGING of the email as deleted, but it's still in the PST until you compact the file. It's just not visable.

By compacting, you reduce the load time substantially by removing all entries marked for deletion.

Finally, I ran a defragmentation process against the PST file...

Still not as fast as I'd like, but definitely an improvement.

One additional note...Xobni (and any other search engines such as Windows Search, Google Desktop, and such) will need to reindex your mail. You WILL experience serious performance degredation during the reindex, but this is temporary. Suggest having an extra large Latte or taking your best friend out to dinner during this time. It's less frustrating, but the results are worth it...

The slow start is persistent even with Windows 7 and all pst files without any errors. This needs to be fixed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are several things you can try for this. If none of these help, it would probably be best to open a support ticket with a diagnostic file from your system so that we can follow-up on this with you.

First, what version of Xobni are you running? You can find this (in Outlook) under Xobni > About Xobni. If you are running something other than 1.8.3 (build 8997) please upgrade to the latest version as follows:
    1) Download the latest version of Xobni from http://www.xobni.com/download/latest
    2) Restart your computer
    3) Run the installer (from step 1) before running any programs

If you still experience problems, you can try the following page from our FAQ which includes some performance suggestions: http://www.xobni.com/support/?view=86

Another solution that worked for one user with a similar problem was rebuilding the Xobni data files as follows:
    1) Restart your computer
    2) Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs
    3) Scroll down to Xobni and click uninstall
    4) Click Repair
    5) Click Run Now next to “Clear Xobni Data Files”
    6) Click OK and then click continue, done
If you made changes in Xobni like merging profiles, these will be lost but none of your Outlook data will be lost and Xobni’s index with all your mail data will be rebuilt in the next step.

Now, try starting Outlook again. Xobni should come up and start indexing automatically. After the initial quick index is complete, confirm the desired pst files and folders are selected under Xobni > Options > Folders. Then, run Xobni > Index Outlook Mail. This should rebuild Xobni’s index and let you search all your mails.

You could also try disabling all other (non Xobni) third party plug-ins within Outlook under Tools > Trust Center. Click on the Add-ins section.

It’s also possible that a virus scanner is causing performance issues. If your virus scanner includes an “on access” scanner (as most AV programs do), you could try disabling any AV scanning extensions within Outlook itself. You could also try “white-listing” the Xobni directories. You can read more about all of this here: http://www.xobni.com/support/?view=89

If you continue to have issues, please run the Inspector X application and open a support ticket. Here are the steps for doing that:
    1) With Outlook closed, run the Inspector X application by going to Start menu > All Programs > Xobni > Diagnostics > InspectorX.
    2) After data is displayed, use the “save as zip file” option, and save the file to your desktop,
    3) File a support ticket with this log attached (http://www.xobni.com/support/ and click "contact support). Please put in the Subject line: "Get Satisfaction: Outlook 2007 Start very slow after install xobni" and include a link to this forum post.
