New Version of Xobni broke outlook for IMAP users.. Plus now needed.
The new version of Xobni says I need plus to see my sent email. WHY?
We use IMAP mail. So the sent email goes into sent mail in the default mail PST. The inbox for the IMAP mailbox live in it's own PST. We've been using XOBNI for nearly a year. Just installed the newest version and it's broken. Says we need to use plus. What's up with that? I don't mind paying for new features but I would still expect to get what was free still for free. :(

Ok, I'm trying to understand exactly what's going on here. First things first: the PST limitation in V1.8 should not be affecting users that were running V1.7 or earlier versions. There is one caveat to that: if you did a total uninstall, and removed the Xobni data files, then we wouldn't not know that you were a previous user...thereby limiting the PST access to one.
That said, I'm curious to know more about your Outlook setup. Are you running IMAP in addition to an Exchange mailbox? I'm wondering why your mailbox is setup so that IMAP sent messages are not stored in the same mailbox as your incoming messages?
Finally, we don't offer V1.7 anymore, as we are trying to migrate all our users to the latest version for support purposes.
Thanks!

Inappropriate? As far as i understand the "new" features ... In the past (till 1.7) Xobni could index ALL PST files opend in outlook. Beginning with 1.8 it only can index ONE PST file. As you use "two" PST files it is broken...
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Nope when you add an IMAP account to outlook it adds a new PST file for all inbound email.
Email is not delivered to the default PST file.
When you send email the email is stored on the default email folder in sent email. Not in the IMAP folder. (in fact there is no sent folder on the IMAP server)
So for Outlook the drafts, deleted items, junk Email sent items and search folders are all part of the defualt location. (inbox.pst) for all outlook users.
We currently do not have exchange but plan to migrate to exchange 10. At that time the IMAP folder will go away. But this still means any user that used IMAP with outlook today will be unable to see thier sent email's without using the plus version.
While I understand you guys wanting to limit features for the free to plus versions you should hard code the software to index the default folder + one additional folder if you plan to support IMAP users.
Granted that could mean a user could have two mail services... or more likely their inbox and their Archive folder indexed. But if someone is going to buy the plus for the number of pst's that it could index that's going to be more for someone that has 4 or 5 email address that they want to support.
Or maybe a small biz HR department might want to have a machine with each person's mailbox on it and have Xobni running so they can search for keywords accross multiple mail boxes at once. That would be a reason to buy plus.
I’m sore

Inappropriate?I agree, it's definitely not desirable that IMAP users should be getting shafted this way. I'll file a bug documenting the problem, so that we can get it fixed in a future version. No idea exactly when this will appear, but I'm confident it will get fixed. Thanks for clarifying the setup, it's very helpful.
I’m sure we'll fix this.

Inappropriate?"Simple fix" remove the 1 PST file limitation that Xobni added at release 1.8. As I have commented elsewhere IMHO this is a retrograde step.
I’m sad

Inappropriate? Thanks for reporting this. This should now be fixed in the latest version available at http://www.xobni.com/download
I’m thankful for the reports happy we fixed it

Inappropriate? What was the outcome? I am unable to establish a stable connection. The build gets to 98.5% and then hangs up. I am very upset. I have a small business that is handicapped by this "upgrade".
