Is there somewhere I can download the update patches? My company blocks the updates I think. Either that or it isn't going through the proxy. So I would like to be able to download and run the updates on my own. Is there anything like that available?

P.S. or maybe just the ability to enter a proxy?

I'll second that :)

The ability to configure a proxy (separate to the one Outlook uses by default, which is, IIRC, the one defined for IE) would be awesome. We have a secondary proxy server (not ISA ;)) which would definitely allow me to get at the updates automatically. Our ISA server is just a web proxy, but it runs content filtering and all sorts of other crap which makes it a little temperamental as to what it'll allow through on any given day!

BTW, I changed my IE proxy settings to point at our secondary server; should restarting Outlook and the XobniService be sufficient to "check for updates" or does Xobni check at pre-defined intervals?? In any case, that particular change/test was unsuccessful in getting me the latest version :(

Looking forward to a response on this one, as it's getting to be an annoyance that you guys are adding all these new features and I can't get to play with them....

EDIT: I'm still running the 2603 build, which is pretty ancient - hopefully that'll go in my favour ;)

if you download the xobnisetup.exe file again, it will install the latest version.

From where? If I stick my email address in the download page, it just throws an error along the lines of...."you're in the beta, but you've downloaded Xobni more times than you're allowed to"...., so I guess the one download I've done is my limit :D

Thanks for the suggestion, but it doesn't help me at this point in time :(

Is there anyone at Xobni that can comment on this issue?

Will a proxy option be available on a later release?

Will we be able to download the update to Xobni to get that option?

Any information would be appreciated.

Hi all,

Thanks for your patience. I actually haven't tested Xobni with a proxy setup, so I'll get on that and see if I can reproduce the issue :). It could be firewall software as well that is preventing the updates.

I'm not sure if this will help (I have the correct version already and haven't tried this) but I read in another post that when you uninstall Xobni, a web browser opens asking why you are removing it. If you select "temporary uninstall" as the reason, you are sent to a page to download the latest version.

Reinstalling is a pain of course but maybe this is one workaround for now if you really want to have the latest version and can't get it otherwise.

James

This definitely works. I just did this.
