Xobni,

I need to send a mass email to update all of my contacts that my address has changed. In the analytics tab, you're already gone to the trouble of creating a list of all of my contacts and their email addresses.

Is there any way to export this list or just copy/paste it? I'd even settle for a right-click to add all selected contacts to a To:/Cc:/Bcc: field, if for some reason export is not doable or advisable. I can email, save or print the graph generated of all of my contacts, but I can't do any of the above with their email addresses.

Any chance we might see this soon (or perhaps it's already possible)? Otherwise, I need to start hunting for a tool to do this one thing specifically. I know that's not what Xobni was designed for, but it would be a nice feature to add--for me, anyway.

Thanks,

David

David,

Good idea, as most of the functionality appears to already be in the Analytics tool. For another approach right now, you can create a distribution list in Outlook that contains all of your contacts, and then simply email out to that in order to hit everyone (you don't even really need to create the distro list). Here's how:
File -> New -> Distribution List (or CTRL+SHIFT+L)
Give it a name
Click "Select Members"
Click "Name Only" next to "Search:"
Select "Outlook Address Book -> Contacts" under "Address Book"
At this point all of your contacts should be showing
Click the first one, scroll down and SHIFT+click the last one
They should all now be highlighted
Click "Members"
Click "OK"You should now have a distribution list that contains all of your contacts.

A couple of drawbacks to this approach are:
Multiple email addresses for the same contact will be grabbed
Fax numbers will be grabbedHowever, this should get your pretty close and only require some minimal editing. Hope this helps...

Gary,

Thanks for your suggestion. I realize now that my wording was imprecise.

The issue I'm having is not that I need to email all of my existing Outlook contacts, but that I haven't created Outlook contacts for everyone I've emailed. Xobni includes the ability to locate all unique email addresses (as it ignores the Outlook contacts themselves, mostly), which is exactly what I need.

In other words, Xobni finds 1800+ unique "contacts" according to Xobni's "contacts" analytics page, but I have <500 outlook contacts. It's the list of 1800 to which I'm trying to get access.

Thanks for your help, and sorry my request was vague.

david,

i found another that might work for you while looking for facebook apps in this sarah in tampa (http://on10.net/blogs/sarahintampa/20881/Default.aspx) post. the contact exporter for outlook (http://www.clearcontext.com/products/contact_exporter.html) creates a list of addresses from your emails to upload to facebook, so you could use that list for your mailing list as well. sarah in tampa is a great blogger to follow for lots of new outlook tips and addins and stuff.

Frankly, I'd like the same capabilities so I can know which contacts need to be merged. Just for my own contact, there were at least 3 different contacts that needed to be merged together.

I think this would be useful to update Outlook with the information that Xobni gleened from email and also to update my cell-phone list. Since I'm using Outlook Exchange at work, my Outlook Contacts are mostly non-work related and Xobni collects the co-worker contact information I want in my cell phone.
