I have been using Xobni now for a few weeks and love it. I used my five invites to invite some of my co-workers. However after they installed it they have been unable to switch profiles. When Xobni is uninstalled it works fine.

Here is our set up. Three computers in the office share a common info email account. Since we do not have server and work on a P2P set up the PST file lives on one computer. Then each computer that needs access to it has an outlook profile set up for it. We go into the Mail settings in the control panel in Win XP Pro and create the new account. We use the same email settings on each computer and they all use the same PST file that is stored on one computer. When they want to switch from their personal email to the info email they usually just shut down Outlook. When they restart it, it used to prompt them which profile they would like. Once Xobni was installed it no longer did this. I wonder if this is similar to the problem others have mentioned here that Outlook.exe never really stops running.

Does anyone use Xobni in a similar setup? Have you been able to make it work? Any suggestions?

Hi davekoni,

I do have a similar setup on my machine and it works fine. When you start Outlook, a Profile Selector comes up, I choose one, and then enter my password. From there it takes me to the appropriate mailbox and I start working.

If you're not seeing the Profile Selector, please check the Windows setting to ensure this is still enabled. If you go to Control Panel -> Mail -> Profiles, do you see the profiles you need? If not, you will need to add them.

Along with this, you should check that "Prompt for a profile to be used" is selected.

I hope this helps - let us know what happens!

Hi Davekoni,

I also get this error, and you are correct that Outlook has not closed completely before restarting, and no Profile chooser is coming up. Make sure of the following:

1) When this error happens, open Task Manager, and check if Outlook is still running. Wait a few minutes and it may shut down by itself, otherwise you can just End the Task, BEWARE! this can corrupt PST files in some cases (if the system is still writting to the PST when you close it). So this really is not an option in your case.

2) Make sure all your Outlook clients are up-to-date with Service Packs, as this was a known problem in earlier versions of Outlook 2003, (pre-SP1); The current is SP3 for Office 2003.

3) Do you have any other applications that utilise the Outlook subsystem files (MAPI32.DLL etc...) in anyway? (Windows Desktop Search, MS Office Communicator 2005, Nokia PC Suite, Any mobile phone syncing software, are just a few examples that can also cause this issue.) as these can hold the application open or just bits of it and can cause the same results.

Let us know how you get on.

Cheers,
Stone
