My xobni just disappeared. Not sure where it went. Any idea how to get it back? It is still in the start menu, should i uninstall and reinstall?

Maybe the Add-in is just disabled somhow. I use Outlook 2007 and found these instructions to help me solve a problem:

Disable/Enable Add-ins in Outlook 2007:

1. In Outlook 2007, go to Tools > Trust Center
2. Click on the Add-ins section
3. You will now see all active, non-active, and disabled add-ins. Click on the add-in you want to enable/disable and then click on the Go button towards the bottom.
4. This will then open up the COM add-ins page. You can then check/uncheck the add-ins you want to enabe or disable.

Hope that helps!

I am having the same problem. I am using Outlook 2003. I have checked that add-in's as suggested. But do not see that as an available add-in. I do the see the update service running. Any other suggestion other than unistalling and installing again?

Hi all,

This is a bug we've been investigating, but it's rare, and hard to replicate in-house. If you'd like to help us out, please contact our technical support and he can guide you through the information and logs we'd need to be able to resolve this.

To Contact The Xobni Support Team:
Within Outlook, go to the Xobni menu and choose Contact Support.

Thanks!

FYI, I am pretty sure this happened when I reinstalled Plaxo. I am happy to provide whatever logs you might want to help you out. I have a software development background, so I know how difficult this can be to nail down!

Thanks Jeff, I'm actually on Outlook 2007 and it is not even listed in the add-ins list. Strange. I am going to reinstall in a day or so, unless the Xobni team wants to look at my system remotely.

I run Outlook 2003 and Windows XP SP2. I have also experienced that Xobni has disappeared. It is not a disabled item and it is no longer in the menu. The Xobni service is running. I have stopped and restarted this. I have also spent some time going round in a loop to find a way to contact technical support. I am so glad that I am not paying for this! There is no program item called Xobni Insight.

In any case, Xobni causes regular crashes in Outlook and Run Time Errors. It would be nice if the development team could test the product before release instead of using the public as beta testers.

@ Steve0412:

Ok, there's a lot of misunderstanding in your message, I think.

In Outlook 2003, we don't show up as a COM Add-in. This is a design limitation with the architecture of Outlook 2003, and there's nothing that we can do about this. There should be an item in the Advanced Add-In's called 'XobniRdo.exe'. This should never be disabled, as it can cause major problems with how Xobni and Outlook interact. However, if you don't see it there, then that could indicate a bigger issue.

You're correct in saying that there is no item called 'Xobni Insight'. We dropped 'Insight' from the product name several releases ago. So perhaps you're seeing some strange vestige of an old install that's causing some issues.

As for XobniService.exe, this is our automatic updater app that runs in the background. This should not affect anything else, in terms of Outlook or Xobni. It just checks periodically for backups.

Contacting the Support Team should be relatively straightforward, not sure why you'd be going around in circles with that. Just go here and fill out the form so that we can better assist you:

http://www.xobni.com/support/contact

I can assure you that Xobni is fully tested before it is ever released to the public. At this time we are a free Beta application, and although most people report outstanding results, the choice to work with a universal platform such as Outlook with all of it's configuration possibilities, means there may be some cases we can't account for.

If you're experiencing Outlook crashes and Runtime errors, then we would like to help. Definitely contact our Support Team and we'll take it from there!

Thanks!

I have re-installed Xobni, so I will let you know how it goes. Thanks for your quick response.:)

...which is Brothers labelprinter add-in. Xobni is denoted 'active' in the Trust Center, but is gone, just like the menu item.
Installed Xobni again, first had to deinstall, and it was back! Index had to be rebuilt again (busy hard disk on a busy moment).

Thanks everyone for their notes. I've had this happen twice. I solved it the first time with a reinstall.

The second time after I found this page, I deactivated xobni in the COMM addin windows, shut down outlook and then restarted it and it was back and working correctly.

For the tech guys here both times I've had this issue it was after I had done a lot of right clicking on the mail and calendar buttons in the left hand outlook tool bar saying "open in new window". Xobni doesn't display in the second window and somewhere in the opening and closing it seams to get lost in both windows.

I wish I could debug and QA this more for you, but I hope that little bit helps.

My xobni just disappeared. Not sure where it went. Any idea how to get it back? It is still in the start menu, should i uninstall and reinstall?

I've had this happen twice and wound up re-installing -- but that erased all my updated user contact data (including photos). So, I just stumbled on a solution that works.

Once Xobni disappears:

go to Tools/Trust Center...
In the left column, click "Add-ins"
At the bottom of the page, use the drop down and select "COM Add-ins" and click "Go..."
In the "Add-ins available" you should see Xobni at the bottom, with the check box checked. Un-select it then click OK.
Quit Outlook
Start Outlook
Repeat steps 1-5 except this time turn on the add-in; i.e. check the box.

Once you start Outlook again, Xobni should be back!

(Note to support: It would be nice to have a contact database backup.)

OK, I like right-clicking on my calendar and saying "open in new window." Xobni apparently does not like this, because it disappears when I have Outlook setup like this.

I uninstalled and reinstalled, but I don't think that was necessary. Just needed to close the second Outlook window and restart Outlook.
