Xobni identified someone else with same firstname as main user.
My name is Mark Roeling, but with mail from Mark Lanphen, someone from the same company I'm working for, is identified as mail form myself.
So how to let Xobni know who I am? And how to let Xobni know that I'm not Mark Lanphen?
With regards,
Mark Roeling

Same problem here... Even stranger because the contact identified as me doesn't even have the same name as me.
If anyone knows about this...
Thanks!

Hi-
Hey guys, so we may have a workaround for you. Here are the steps you can follow for getting this to work again. Obviously, we're trying to get this fixed in the next release, but we're hoping this will get you back to smooth sailing in the meantime...
1. Close Outlook. Check Task Manager to make sure it's really quit (Outlook.exe process should not be visible).
2. Go to the folder where your Xobni logs are:
(Vista) C:Users[Your Name]AppDataLocalXobni[Outlook Profile Name]
(XP) C:Documents and Settings[Your Name]Local SettingsApplication DataXobni[Outlook Profile Name]
3. Locate any files that start with "ite", and move them onto your desktop.
4. Relaunch Outlook, those files should be regenerated.
5. If the problem hasn't cleared up on it's own, try running the 'Synchronize' command from the Xobni menu in Outlook.
If the problem is solved, you can just throw away the files you moved to the desktop. If the problem continues, you might want to just reinstall.
Hopefully this will help!! Please let us (and other forum users) know whether it worked for you!
Thanks!

Removing ite files did not resolve the problem. While I was waiting for the synchronization to finish, I looked into the xobni logfiles. No special warning or error found. However, I saw multiple lines containing the followin or similar text:
[07-mrt-2008:08:01:07] XobniMain-1.2.3.2952: Warning: Smtp address does not look like one [<Other><SmtpAddress>pvd</SmtpAddress></Other>]
Could that be the reason? Exchange has multiple groupaccounts containing more than one address. Because my collegue and I are sometimes mixed up by our costumers, we even have a mark@<domain>.nl address so we both get the e-mail.
updatenope, none of the offered solutions resolved the problem... :(

@ Mark:
Well, what's probably happening is that since you share an email address, Insight thinks that you're the same person. So the behavior isn't surprising, if you have emails that go to both of you via one mail address.
Unfortunately, this is happening by design, since Xobni is going to intelligently detect email addresses belonging to you, and merge them into a single profile. Right now, we don't have a way to un-merge mail recipients out of a single profile, so I don't really have a good fix for you right now. My apologies!
Hope this info helps clear things up a bit.

Thinking what could be a possible solution...
Xobni possibly can look into Outlook what kind of account it is. In my case, my account is an Exchange account. The shared e-mail address is an distibution group, with both my collegue's and my account in it.
The FAQ tells me it is possible to merge accounts into one contact.
http://www.xobni.com/support/faq_view?faq=47
So inside Xobni there must be a table with both accountname and contact information, with possibly more than one accountname for each contact.
Perhaps showing this information with the possibility to unmerge (i.e. giving an accountname a different contactname?) whould be a nice feature :)
Nevertheless, although you must learn how to use Xobni, Xobni is a valuable extension to Ootlook. Keep up the good work.
With regards, Mark.

So we share an e-mailaddress, err, we are both members of the mark@<domain>.nl distribution group.
However, this contact is mentioned seperately. So I don't think the shared address is the reason in this case.

Because of a complete reinstall of Windows, I also had to reinstall Xobni.
While Xobni was synchronizing, I had an inbox of a collegae on focus. (A few people can look into other mailboxes, so no mail is missed during holidays for example) Afterwards, Xobni did think I was him. So, it looks like Xobni uses the current inbox, but not neccesseraly mine!
The resemblance between the name of my collegae in the first place seems to be just a coincendence. The last time it was another mailbox, without any name-resemblance.
Looking forward to receive a solution :) ,
Mark.

In addition: Xobni now identifies just me as main user. So problem solved, for now.
