I use X1 for mail box search and would like to replace that with XOBNI.
Can XOBNI index multiple mailboxes and additional PST files?
Thanks
Taj Haslani
Yes, as long as the mailboxes and pst files are open in Outlook.

In my case, I'm thinking specifically of my archive folders, that I don't normally keep open. I have one archive for each year. Do I need to always have the archives open for Xobni to work with them, or do they only need to be open for indexing, and then once they've been indexed, I can keep 'em closed?
I'm not sure, but I believe that once the information is indexed by Xobni it's in there...thus, you should be able to close the archives after you see all the data appearing...

Can you customize which PST files are being indexed?
I have Sharepoint folders which have been attached in the Calendar of Outlook only, so I can monitor certain room schedules.
This is now resulting in Xobni showing appointments for these rooms in my Upcoming Appointments list. I really only want to see things from my own Outlook calendar or archive.

I also have been keeping one PST file for each year's old archived mail - I think this is quite common for people who've had email for a few years!
I certainly do not keep them open in outlook as it would eat up all my resources and be very confusing.
I would like xobni to be able to index pst files that aren't open - either all on the disc, or ones in a certain directory. If this is not technically possible, it would be nice to be able to index an mbox or a mailboxdir file (I can get those from my ISP, or I might use http://www.aid4mail.com/screenshots.php to strip them down to a sensible size).
It is quite an important requirement for big ticket users to be able to search historical mail!
I would also be nice for xobni to improve upon Outlook's AWFUL archiving process that simply does not work. some functionality that was a bit like aid4mail but operated on a rolling basis and moved mail into an archive. This would keep the size of the mailbox under control, but the historical mail would be searchable.

Absolutely, positively, true!
Please make a feature where you can tell Xobni, "Index all the .pst files in this folder." It's hugely impractical to open each individual archive folder and have Xobni index it. I for one have about 15 archive folders.
Incredible product -- thank you!

Want to add my support for this. i actually archive into a new PST quarterly and use X1 to index them. i really like this product but need to be able to search through a few years worth of PST files that i never have open.

We'll be adding support to select what folders and PSTs to index in the future, so hang in there! Unfortunately, it looks like we will not be able to index closed PSTs because, from Xobni's point of view, they can't be seen. However, you will still be able to do the clever trick of opening the PSTs, having Xobni index them, and then closing them again to relieve the burden on Outlook.
