Hi,

I _love_ the sight of Xobni. The only thing is I've been using Thunderbird for the past two years, and obviously a lot of emails in there.

I know you guys will have one for TB soon, but I can't wait, so I want to migrate or sync or both with Outlook 2007.

Has anyone been able to accomplish that, if yes, please help me out.
I tried doing this, but it didn't really work out. -> http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/th2outlook.php

Hi,

I've just migrated from Thunderbird to Outlook 2003 because of Xobni :D

I followed the same instructions and it worked, but not 100%. My problem was that I did not see the attachments and the conversations meta data in outlook (not xobni) was all wacky.

So I experimented with it a bit and I got it working, up to 99%. I still have a problem with Xobni, it shows wrong date stamps for some (not all) conversations and attachments. But if I open the original mail message, the date stamp is correct.

So, follow the instructions up to point 5. Do not export the mail from Outlook Express, instead open up Outlook 2003 (I can imagine the same gos for 2007) and use File -> Import -> Import from another program -> Outlook Express 4.x, 5.x, 6.x.

Hope this helps, good luck.

And thanks for a great app!

It was easier in 2003. Microsoft dropped some import features in 2007 (took some of this from http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/th2outlook.php).

1. Compact and clean out your Thunderbird folders. It'll make life a lot easier for you. Plus, this will completely remove deleted messages. Thunderbird keeps messages in mbox files even after they have been deleted.

2. Locate mbox files in Thunderbird
Usually something like C:\Users\Lee Johnson\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\7rl1m xsm.default\Mail\mail.youraccount.domain

Look for the file called INBOX without the extension - not inbox.msf

3. Convert mbox files to eml files
IMAPSize has a built-in mbox2eml tool that can seemlesly convert thousands and thousands of messages. Download ( http://www.broobles.com/imapsize/IMAPSize_036_Setup.exe), install and run IMAPSize (it's free) and invoke the mbox2eml option from the Tools menu. Select the mbox file you wish to convert.

4. Import generated eml files into Outlook Express or Windows Mail in Vista
Very easy. Open the folder that you just exported to. Select all the messages, drag and drop onto the inbox.

5. Export files from OE/Windows Mail
Use Windows Mail or OE format for export and put it somewhere you can find it.

6. Import this new file into Outlook 2007 (2003)

By the way, I imported close to 600 messages - no problem, got attachments and everything.
