After Xobni completes it's initial full sync, how and when does it sync new email? Does it do it automatically when mail is sent or received? Or periodically during the day? Is there a log that shows how the resync stats?

I too have been trying to figure this out. I can manually sync, but cannot see any stats regarding auto sync.

Xobni should be processing the email as it comes in to your Inbox. The log (in XP) is located at c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Xobni\Outlook\xobni2.log

For those running Vista:
C:\Users\%username%\appdata\Local\Xobni\Outlook

I should point out that:

You don't need to read an new email for it to get indexed by Xobni
There may be a small delay between the time Xobni processes the email and when the data actually appears / is searchable in the interface-Gary

I should add that Xobni will sometimes wait until you have gone idle to perform massive syncs. This is to avoid affecting performance during run-time.

My new messages did not get sync'd when I came back into the office after a week away using OWA.

You mention that Xobni indexes "after awhile" when messages arrive in my inbox. Which inbox? The one on the Exchange server or the one on my machine (I would think that it is the one on my machine).

I forced a manual sync and all is fine, but I wanted (semi-immediate) access to the messages that I was working on last week when I was essentially offline as far as Xobni knows.

@ amoulton:

We don't test against OWA, since Xobni doesn't support that. It's possible that there's a setting that's affecting how we sync in new messages when you're reading the messages on the web.

You're correct in assuming that we're indexing the mailbox on your local machine. We don't touch the server, unless you're running an IMAP account or are running Exchange accounts in non-Cached Exchange Mode. If you're running those types of accounts, then you'll need to run the 'Index All Mail' command, or be idle for 4 hours (so that the background indexing will begin), in order to get your mail synced in.

Hope that info helps! Thanks!
